Several models of the popular Maclaren Stroller have caused babies and children to suffer traumatic amputation of their fingertips. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of all nine models of Maclaren’s single and double umbrella strollers.
Manufacturers of products often fail to live up to their legal responsibility to produce a safe product. Design defects or faulty assembly can result in a catastrophic failure with devastating consequences for the user of the product and anyone in the vicinity.
The recalled strollers were manufactured in China and distributed by Maclaren USA of South Norwalk, CT. The defective stroller models include the following: Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno XLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller. They have been sold at Babies “R” Us, Target and other stores since 1999.
